Best Watch for EMT

1. Casio G-Shock GW6900-1 Tough Solar

The Casio G-Shock has always been my go-to for watches that can deliver in terms of durability, legibility, and functionality. The Casio G-Shock GW6900-1 Tough Solar is exactly that and more.

Won’t Let You Down in the Field

The Casio G-Shock GW6900-1 is about as basic as you can get as far as tough watches go. However, it does offer a number of other functionalities that make it a worthy pickup.

Obviously, the main draw of this watch is its toughness. It features a shock-resistant construction which makes it highly resilient against vibration and impact. Just by feeling the watch alone, you can see that it can withstand the rough nature of an EMT’s job.

On top of the excellent durability and toughness, the watch also features 20-bar water resistance. From the shower to emergency water rescues, your watch will not give in just because it came in contact with water.

The GW6900-1 is also solar-powered which means that as long as you are wearing it, replacing the battery is a non-issue. The watch can still work even after 5-23 months of not receiving any light.

Best of all, the GW6900-1 is an affordable timepiece that’s currently on-sale for less than $100.

2. Garmin Tactix Charlie

The Garmin Tactix Charlie is somewhat of a premium pick. It’s not the most affordable in this best watch for EMT list but it’s an easy recommendation for those who are looking for a watch with a ton of features.

One Tool Watch to Rule Them All

The Garmin Tactix Charlie is described as a premium GPS watch – you can expect no less than Garmin.

Is it tough enough to handle an EMT’s job?

Well, the case of the Tactix Charlie is reinforced polymer with a titanium back plate. Plus, the bezel is DLC coated titanium while the watch is protected by sapphire crystal. As you can see, the Tactix Charlie is not playing around as far as durability goes.

After all, it’s a watch that’s designed for tactical purposes.

The main selling point of the watch is the navigation features. The watch comes with GPS/GLONASS along with pre-loaded topo maps. Many Garmin GPS staple features are here such as the ability to set project waypoints. You can also easily save your location in a hurry. The navigation features should come in handy if you are responding to a rural or unfamiliar location.

And one thing, it’s also an excellent activity tracker and fitness tool.

The Garmin Tactix Charlie is by no means a cheap watch but it offers a mind-blowing number of features that many EMTs should appreciate.

3. Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept

If you want the best watch for EMT with a thematic twist, the Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept is worth looking into. Don’t get me wrong, it’s more than just a watch with eye-popping red color.

Thematic Twist to a Tough Watch

One look at the Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept and your eyes will be drawn to the beautiful red color. When mine arrived, I was so pleased that it looks even better in person. This is a colorful alternative for EMTs who are tired of the same old black watches.

Since this is a G-Shock model, there’s no surprise (or rather a shock) here when it comes to inherent toughness. Casio’s construction is always on-point. The watch feels appropriately weighty and it just provides a solid feel overall. You just know that it’s a watch that won’t fail you in the field.

The G-Shock Rescue Concept comes with a decent list of features such as moon/tide graphs, auto EL backlight, low temp LCD, flash alert, world time, and daily alarm. It’s no Tactix Charlie or the Suunto Traverse Alpha but it’s hard to go wrong with the price.

In conclusion, the Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept is an excellent rugged watch with a color scheme that fits the EMT theme.

4. Citizen BM8180-03E Eco-Drive

Citizen’s Eco-Drive collection has always impressed me. They’re some of the most robust and well-respected watches in the industry. The Citizen BM8180-03E Eco-Drive is no exception.

Quality EMT Watch for a Great Price

The Citizen BM8180-03E Eco-Drive is one of the best-selling watches on Amazon, and it’s not surprising at all.

The BM8180-03E is a military-inspired watch and a stylish one at that. While it’s indeed a rugged military watch, it features a nice and clean design. The army green color scheme of the strap contrasts rather well with the stainless steel case and black dial.

Speaking of the dial, I love the BM8180-03E’s black dial. It’s just so clean and immediately readable. The red second hand adds an interesting contrast against the black dial face. Plus, you can easily use the seconds from timing a patient’s pulse and the like. When things get dark, the hands and numerals are lumed and it’s is pretty good.

Being an Eco-Drive model, the BM8180-03E is solar powered and it’s one of the better solar-powered watches available. It can be charged both in sunlight and artificial light sources like lamps. In case you run out of solar power, the watch also comes with a reserve battery which is a nice bonus.

All in all, this is a great-looking watch with sufficient ruggedness and functionality to offer for a great price.

5. Speidel Original Scrub Watch

The Speidel Original Scrub Watch is a watch specifically designed for doctors, nurses, surgeons, and of course EMT workers. This watch is simple, durable, and easy to read – sometimes, that’s all you ever need from a watch.

A Medical Professional’s Watch

I’ll be frank: the Speidel Original Scrub Watch is simply a basic analog watch. Don’t expect it to sync with your smartphone or count your steps. The idea here is to keep the basic timekeeping needs of medical professionals.

With that said, the dial features large Arabic numbers and a bright red second hand, emphasizing “at a glance” readability. True enough, the Speidel Scrub Watch boasts excellent readability regardless of the lighting conditions. The bright red second hand comes in handy when counting a patients pulse or breathing.

The watch is available in many different colored wristbands which you can match with your scrub uniforms, hence the name. The silicone band takes a bit of getting used to. However, it does provide a good bit of comfort and doesn’t make my wrist itch which is a plus. The silicone band is very easy to clean as well.

Overall, the Speidel Scrub Watch gets the job done and does it well. It’s a basic watch every step of the way and it doesn’t pretend otherwise. Luckily, the watch is available for a good price.

6. Timex Expedition Scout 40

Timex is a brand known for its budget-friendly and durable watches. The Expedition collection is more of a field watch and it’s perfect for an EMT’s everyday wear. The Timex Expedition Scout 40 is one the best entries in that particular collection.

Affordable and Durable Choice for EMTs

Like the Citizen Eco-Drive model earlier, the Timex Expedition Scout 40 is easy to read with clear white Arabic numbers on a black dial. The numerals and hands just pop out and you can easily tell the time at first glance. The numerals are bold and large which is always a plus for readability.

The Expedition Scout 40 also features the Indiglo illumination technology which I am a big fan of. When it comes to timekeeping in the dark, you won’t have a problem with this watch. The Japanese Quartz movement is always reliable and offers enough practicality for the timekeeping needs of emergency responders.

The Timex Expedition Scout 40 is a watch that EMT workers can buy with confidence. Plus, it’s hard to go wrong with the sub-$50 price tag.

Best Watch for Firefighter EMT

1. Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GG-1000-1A5CR

Casio is a legendary brand and its G-Shock line consists some of the toughest watches on the planet. The Casio G-Shock Mudmaster GG-1000-1A5CR is our top pick due to its supreme toughness and more.

Legendary Durability and Reliability

If you are already used to G-Shock watches, you’ll be surprised with the Mudmaster GG-1000-1A5CR’s size – it’s indeed larger than most G-Shock models.

For me, one of the main selling points of this watch is the design. The overall color scheme and the negative display add a good deal of personality to the watch. It looks rugged and tactical which many firefighters will surely appreciate. Despite the predominantly black dial, it still offers “at a glance” readability. The LED backlight is not the brightest but very serviceable.

When it comes to toughness, the Mudmaster GG-1000-1A5CR doesn’t disappoint. Whether it’s a big drop or a hard hit, the Mudmaster can take a serious beating. The combination of rugged construction and durable materials make this watch a reliable ally during high-pressure situations. It’s also water-resistant which means that you’ll have no problem wearing it while responding to a fire call.

Overall, the Mudmaster GG-1000-1A5CR is an excellent heavy-duty watch, and well worth the money.

2. Luminox 3059 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark

We have listed the Luminox EVO Navy SEAL as one of the best military watches that money can buy. If the Luminox 3059 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark is good enough for the Navy, it should be good enough for firefighters and EMTs.

Swiss-Made Durability

For starters, the Luminox 3059 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark is a handsome watch. One of the first things you’ll notice is the eye-popping orange color scheme. Aside from the fact that it’s a head-turner, the orange color scheme also makes it easier to read the watch regardless of the conditions.

I’ve always been a fan of the Luminox EVO’s big, bold display, and the 3059 EVO Navy SEAL is no exception. Despite the fairly crowded dial, the watch is very legible. If it’s too dark, the tritium luminosity accents ensure that you read the watch with little to no problems.

But is it a tough watch?

Well, the 3059 EVO Navy SEAL boasts superior construction and rugged build. The fact that it’s a big and tall watch reinforces the durability and reliability of the unit. Unfortunately, users with smaller wrists might want to pass since this 44 mm watch is quite sizable.

The 3059 EVO Navy SEAL is a military timepiece that has all the makings to be the best watch for firefighter EMT.

3. Casio G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400

We could fill out this list of the best watch for firefighter EMT with Casio G-Shock watches and be done with it. As expected, Casio makes another solid tough watch offering with the Casio G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400.

Superior Toughness and Functionality

The Master of G series is a popular Casio collection and the G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 happens to be the most popular of them all – for good reason.

The G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 is always a solid choice if you are in the market for a tough-as-nails watch. It looks aggressive and bulky, and make no pretensions that it’s a heavy-duty timepiece. From firefighter EMTs to law enforcement, this watch can take a great deal of punishment.

However, calling it merely a tough watch would be a huge disservice. The G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 is a feature-packed timepiece that will serve you well if you like going outdoors. The watch features a Triple Sensor which is basically three functions: compass, thermometer, and altimeter-barometer. Unlike some outdoor watches, all three functions work rather well.

The watch is also solar-powered which means that you don’t have to replace or charge the batteries, provided that you wear it regularly.

For firefighter and EMTs, the G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 offers unparalleled toughness, a load of features, and amazing value.

4. Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro

The watch industry has become so massive that it now houses many different niches such as divers, sports, dress, perpetual calendars, and more. The Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro represents a lesser-known and quite frankly, a strange niche.

A Firefighter’s Watch with a Flair of Its Own

As you might have guessed from the name, the Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro was designed for storm or tornado chasers. While not many people can take advantage of this watch’s niche, it’s a handsome sports chronograph that packs quite a wallop.

The Fireman Storm Chaser Pro is a downright gorgeous chronograph. This 42mm watch boasts classically handsome looks and on-point proportions. If you are a firefighter who doesn’t want to forego style, the Fireman Storm Chaser Pro comes highly recommended.

The dial is also a thing of beauty. The metallic slate gray gives the dial an elegantly handsome look and it looks amazing when it catches the light. The subdials feature a black finish and concentric circles. At 9 o’clock you can find the running seconds subdial which provides the much-needed balance.

Another thing that’s worth mentioning is the price. This is hardly a budget-friendly timepiece. However, for the price, it stacks favorably against more expensive models.

5. Marathon General Purpose WW194009

If you want a simple analog watch that can stand up to high-pressure jobs, the Marathon General Purpose WW194009 is an easy recommendation.

Simple Yet So Intricate

For starters, the WW194009 is built according to government specifications for military use. It fulfills the Nato Stock Numbers 6645-00-066-4279 and 6645-01-304-4308 – in layman’s term, it is one tough watch.

The fibershell case and sapphire crystal do a great job of protecting the watch from serious damage. You can hit and bump this watch all day and you won’t see any dent. After all, it is a true field watch designed for general infantry.

Despite the rugged construction and durability, the watch barely weighs anything at all. Sometimes, I barely notice that it’s there. In this day and age of massive bulky watches, the Marathon General Purpose WW194009 is a breath of fresh air and wearing it is such a liberating experience.

The watch is powered by Swiss-made ETA F06 3 quartz movement which delivers as far as accuracy goes. The dial looks clean and easily readable. The hands are also lumed but it could be better especially during very low-light conditions.

Summing it up, the WW194009 is a lightweight but durable watch that will serve you well while on fire duty.

6. Aquaforce Firefighter Brass and Stainless Steel

The Aquaforce Firefighter Brass and Stainless Steel is the timepiece you want if you want something that’s actually firefighting themed. It’s not the most advanced watch on this list but it gets the job done.

A Solid Fireman-Themed Timepiece

The Aquaforce Firefighter Brass and Stainless Steel is marketed as a dress watch. It’s certainly dressier than other Aquaforce models with its rose gold case and black trim. The dial also features a firefighter logo right smack in the middle. The design is not very elaborate but it looks clean and handsome.

However, I must say that the rose gold color looks more like copper when it arrived which took me by surprise.

In terms of durability, I must say that the watch feels solid and adequately constructed. There’s a bit of weight to it which is nice especially for a budget-friendly piece. It is also water-resistant to 30m which is good for the occasional splash.

Overall, the Aquaforce Firefighter Brass and Stainless Steel is a reliable fireman-themed watch which also makes a great gift.

Watches You Can Rely on While On Duty

This wraps up the list of the best watch for firefighter EMT. These watches are tough, functional, and highly reliable – all essential qualities while fulfilling your duty.

Hopefully, you’ve found the right watch for you using this guide.

Best Watches For Paramedics

Best Watch for Paramedics and active medical professionals

Today we will be reviewing and highlighting top watches for paramedics. A paramedics job is EXTREMELY important; so having a watch that can accurately keep time and function properly is a must!

The job of an EMT, or paramedic, involves a lot of moving around, being on duty for long hours and subject to water or other types of fluids. So while accuracy is a very important feature, durability is a top quality of paramedic watches as well!

You will soon find out that the Timex Expedition Gallatin is the BEST watch for paramedics! Why is that? Because of the durability, price and easy to read dial. It also is a plus that owners rave about the watches tough build.  It is difficult to find a negative review for this watch!

Top Watches for Paramedics Why Best? Paramedic Rating
Timex Men’s Expedition VERY durable, accurate, affordable and has an easy to read dial ★★★★
G-Shock GA100-1A1 Extreme durability and easy to use stopwatch features ★★★★
Seiko SKX007 Another VERY durable watch, but a bit more expensive. Highlights include an automatic movement ★★★
EMT Paramedic Aquaforce Literally designed for paramedics. Easy to read. ★★★
Fanmis Men’s Analog Display Durable and VERY AFFORDABLE, mimic of G-Shock at a lower price point. ★★★

Timex Expedition Gallatin

For the first watch of the day, we are reviewing the Timex Expedition Gallatin. Timex is a watchmaker with a long history. They are known for making durable sports and military watches, which happen to be a  great choice for paramedics.

The Timex Expedition Gallatin is about as good as it gets for a paramedic watch. It is a durable watch with a fast wrap velcro band, and a lightweight but strong, resin case. It is also a waterproof timepiece ( up to 50 meters) so it can handle water damage. The Gallatin is also easy to read. You can see the black hand tick around the large 44 mm case and the dial even lights up with a push of a button.

An All Around Watch

This watch is great for ANY wear: The Timex is definitely a top watch for any EMT or paramedic. You get the best of all of the other watches but in a sleek, dark design. Think of this watch as your GO TO. It fits in with any attire, so it can be worn long after a shift as well.

The Timex Expedition Gallatin is the best watch for EMT.

Top Features

  • Durability: I am going to give the durability rating on this piece a 4.5/5. It is a watch that can take anything you put in its path. So the job of a paramedic got NOTHING on the Gallatin.
  • It doesn’t cost much:  It may not be the cheapest watch in the review today, but I would say it is the best VALUED watch.
  • Multiple Designs: You can find this watch in a variety of colorways and designs. There are different band materials, colors etc..
  • Light up Dial: Working in the dark? No problem. The Timex has a bright, luminescent dial, activated easily with a push of a button

G-Shock GA100-1A1

Here we have the beautiful G-Shock GA100. A perfect watch for the job of any medical professional.

G-Shocks are known for their rough, durable designs. In fact, they are actually designed for military wear. So if a military medic can be found wearing one of these bad boys, I am sure it is a perfect choice for paramedics who are not at war. It’s one of the best watches for paramedics.

What else makes the G-Shock a great choice is the unique features and attributes of this piece. It is anti-magnetic, has a full auto-programmed calendar and a fully functional stopwatch. Similar to the Timex, you can also activate a light on this watch. This comes in handy when working in the dark!

Great Functionality

Why the G-Shock is one of my top choices for paramedics is definitely because of all the add-ons and the functionality of the piece.  You do not need to worry about medical equipment interfering with your watches movement on this piece. You also have a stopwatch on you at all times, that is easy to use.

Highlights

  • Anti-Magnetic: The G-Shock has built-in, anti-magnetic qualities that protect against the electricity given off from some medical devices.
  • Shock Resistant: Any fall or slam is no match for the G-Shock GA100. It is a true BEAST!
  • Nice size: With a 37mm case, this watch is sure to fit nicely on a wrist of any size.

Seiko SKX007

Simply look up Seiko SKX007 on a Google search and you will be amazed at all the reviews that come up from happy EMT and EMS workers. The Seiko is a durable watch that is built with an AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT ( my favorite movement). The reason this watch is not on the top like the G-Shock and Timex is that it is slightly more expensive than both. DO NOT let that turn you off though. Many happy customers are glad that they chose a Seiko and it is sure to last long and stay functional for a long time!

Automatic Movement

If you have read any of my reviews before, you know I LOVE automatic movements on watches. I mean, to me this is what defines a TIMEPIECE. The Seiko SKX may not have the best automatic movement in the world, but it still has one. Owners are extremely happy with the movement of this piece. Expect just a few seconds off per month!

Highlights

  • Quality Japanese automatic movement
  • Water resistance up to 200 Meters
  • 42 mm Stainless steel case
  • Beautiful dive watch design

EMT Aquaforce

If you imagined what an EMT watch would look like, without ever seeing one, this is probably what you would be thinking of (at least it’s what I saw in my wild imagination).

EMT Aquaforce

There is nothing fancy about this watch, nothing at all. But if a luxury design is what is important to you, rather than functionality, you may be in the wrong profession (can I get a different paramedic please)? But seriously, you will be the definition of a true EMT with this watch. It comes in an all-black design, with a light feel and a flexible band.

Made for an EMT

Not much can be found on the Aquaforce. But there is no doubt at all that it was made for an EMT/paramedic.  It is towards the bottom of today’s review because it is not as durable as the other watches on the list for paramedics. Some owners have claimed that their bands have broke. Other than that, it is a functional watch that is simplistic and will do its job.

Highlights

  • Design: EMT inspired design in the dial
  • Size: Large 47mm case
  • Simplistic: Simple, all black band with a black case

Fanmis S-Shock

Our last watch of the day looks VERY VERY similar to a G-Shock. Funny, it is called S-Shock… (I wonder why).

Fanmis S-Shock

The Fanmis was added to today’s review because it is the most AFFORDABLE piece on this list.  This is a watch that is durable and reliable, without breaking the bank. You can expect almost everything you get with a G-Shock but a lot cheaper!  This is a LARGE watch, 51mm case diameter. It has a silicone, rubber band, and an ABC plastic case; with that, you can understand why we choose it as one of the best watches for paramedics.

Affordability

Although the Fanmis is not as regarded as a G-Shock. Does not mean this watch is not good. It has almost EVERY feature that a G-Shock has, just downgraded a bit. The killer reason why this is a must by piece though lies in the price. Look at getting about four of these watches for the price of one G-Shock!

Top Features

  • PRICE: The most affordable watch on today’s review
  • Technology: Anti-Magnetic Anti-Vibration ( not as strong as G-Shock, but reliable) I would not test it out with an AED… (CLEAR)!
  • Durability: Plastic and rubber materials that can take on scratches, bumps, and falls and up to 50 M water resistance
  • Timekeeping; Full calendar and stopwatch with a quartz movement

Curtain Call/ The Final Verdict

I hope everyone found this review helpful today in purchasing a watch. My thought process today while reviewing was to find five watches that are highly reviewed by paramedics and are durable pieces that can handle the workload of a paramedic/EMT. At the end of the day, you can not go wrong with any of these watches, but in particular the Timex Gallatin, or the G-Shock GA100. It is hard to pick a solid winner, so I will leave that decision up to YOU!

When purchasing a watch for your career as a paramedic, keep in mind that looks are not everything. I tried to pick the best-looking watches, that have rigid, strong, durable features and are still not hideous. In no way are any of these watches a Rolex or an Omega; but in contrast, they are strong watches that can take on the important role of assisting a paramedic in their day to day work. Rest assured these are the best watches for paramedics.

Remember as always, when purchasing a watch make sure you buy from a reliable source like Amazon! If you keep that in mind, you can ensure that you are buying an authentic watch and typically with warranties. Happy watch shopping my friends!
