Best Watches for Construction Workers

1. Casio G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400

For this list of the best watches for construction workers, I could probably fill the list with Casio watches and it’s still going to be a pretty good roundup. When it comes to tough watches, it’s no wonder that Casio is a household name. The Casio G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 is what I consider a quintessential Casio tough watch.

The Quintessential Tough Watch

The G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 is a battle-tested timepiece and is widely considered to be one of the best G-Shock watches available.

However, the G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 is more than just a tough watch, it’s a full-featured outdoor unit as well. One of its best features is the Triple Sensor which means that it comes with a compass, altimeter, thermometer and barometer. It’s not exactly something that you can use on the construction site but it’s certainly a nice bonus.

But the toughness of the Rangeman GW-9400 will surely come in handy on the site. As you might expect, this watch is highly resistant to scratches, bumps, shocks, and vibrations. It’s also low temperature resistant, so you can wear it while working in the cold. It’s also a Tough Solar model which means that you don’t have to worry about running out of juice.

Overall, the Casio G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 is a must-have for construction workers, thanks to its legendary toughness and excellent value proposition.

2. Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire

If you’re looking for a timepiece that offers more than your traditional tough watch, the Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire is a top-notch choice.

Perfect for Challenging Environments

The Fenix 5X is also our top choice for the best ‘smartwatches’ for construction workers, so that’s saying something. The Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire is primarily an outdoor watch but it’s going to feel at home at a construction site.

The rugged design of the Fenix 5X allows for some serious durability. It features PVD-coated stainless steel bezel, buttons and rear case – a highly reinforced timepiece that feels tough and solid to the touch. The Transflective technology reflects and transmit light at the same time, so you can read the watch even when you’re working on the site. Water resistance is also great and is rated at 100 meters.

As mentioned, the Fenix 5X Sapphire is a high-end outdoor watch that’s packed with features. The advanced GPS and GLONASS satellite reception makes navigation in the wild a breeze. The full color Topo U.S. mapping is also a great navigation feature. On top of being an amazing outdoor watch, it’s a feature-packed activity tracker as well.

Overall, the Fenix 5X is more than just a tough watch. It’s on the expensive side but it’s worth the investment.

3. Timex Expedition Rugged Metal

When it comes to rugged, tough watches that provide amazing value proposition, Timex needs no introduction. For construction workers, the Timex Expedition Rugged Metal is a reliable timekeeping companion.

Tough and Practical

Timex is a brand that has been around forever, so I tend to think that they know how to make watches. The Timex Expedition is one of the best collections the brand has to offer.

The biggest pro of this watch is its build quality and materials. That tends to be the case with the Expedition collection. This isn’t your Uncle Dave’s old Timex anymore that comes with a cheap metal case and bracelet. The Expedition Rugged Metal is a workhorse of a watch, thanks to its metal construction – it’s a watch that you can rely on while working on a construction site.

As with most Timex watches, the Expedition keeps good time. The Indiglo feature works as intended but the hands are luminous enough that you won’t need the aforementioned feature for legibility. In terms of comfort, this watch wears just right. The leather watch doesn’t just look good, it’s surprisingly comfortable as well.

Finally, the best reason to get this watch is for its price. For this amount of quality and durability, $50 is a steal.

4. Citizen Eco-Drive AT4010-50E Titanium Perpetual

Citizen’s Eco-Drive series is a beloved collection from this legendary Japanese watchmaker. In terms of durability, I went with the Citizen Eco-Drive AT4010-50E Titanium Perpetual.

Combination of Style and Durability

Who says that tough watches need to look like bulky tool watches? The Citizen Eco-Drive AT4010-50E Titanium Perpetual is modern and sleek but is still a reliable timepiece for construction workers.

As a Titanium watch, the case and bracelet deliver in terms of durability. It’s pretty much a daily-wear watch that you can wear from casual walks to construction work. However, with the elegant design and silver tone, I can see myself wearing it during formal events as well. The watch also offers a water resistance of 200 m (660 ft) which is pretty good.

The dial is also a standout and has good texture. However, legibility can be an issue. The three chronograph dials are laid out beautifully but it can be a bit too busy for some people. The atomic timekeeping is a great feature to have, especially if you care about accuracy.

Overall, the Citizen Eco-Drive AT4010-50E Titanium Perpetual is a stylish but durable solar-powered watch. It’s a bit on the expensive side but it should serve you well while on the site.

5. Luminox 3059 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark

The Luminox 3059 EVO Navy SEAL Colormark is one of our top picks for the best military watch. With that in mind, it’s hard not to recommend this watch for a list of the best watches for construction workers.

Rugged Build and Superior Construction

The Luminox 3059 EVO comes with the right amount of heft and bulk. Plus, it comes in safety orange so it’s perfect for construction workers. As far as looks go, this watch is handsome one, thanks to its great shape and the pop of orange color. Plus, it makes the watch easier to read.

But is this a tough watch?

Absolutely! The watch uses the innovative carbon compound material Carbonox. The material is six times lighter than steel and three times lighter than titanium. It’s also very resistant to chemicals and features a very low thermal extension. So when you’re working on the site, it doesn’t get very hot or cold. Luminox did a good job of taking ruggedness and durability to a whole new level.

Finally, it’s a watch that’s recommended by U.S. SEALs and pilots, so you can trust that it’s a reliable piece.

6. Casio PRO-TREK PRG-600

The Casio PRO-TREK PRG-600 is tagged as an “outdoor world timer” and its tough design and bevy of features are the reasons why it’s one of the best watches for construction workers.

The Watch You Take Outside

For starters, the Casio PRO-TREK PRG-600 is one of the newer versions of the Pro Trek series. As you can see, one of the stronger aspects of this watch is its look. It’s quite an outlier as far as Casio designs go. The round face is fairly easy to read, even without the backlight. I think the oversized numbers is a great design decision.

The PRO-TREK PRG-600 is reinforced for temperatures down to -10C and has a water resistance rating of 100 meters. For durability, Casio’s signature rugged design shines here and it’s a good thing that you don’t have to worry about charging because it’s a solar-powered watch.

Ultimately, the PRO-TREK PRG-600 should come in handy for construction workers. However, it does have a steep learning curve.

Reliable Timepieces for Hardworking Men

Best Outdoorsman Watch

1. Suunto Traverse Alpha

Best Outdoorsman Watch

When we make a list about the best outdoor watches, the Suunto Traverse Alpha will likely find itself on the list. Why not? It’s a very durable watch with rugged construction, and Suunto didn’t exactly skimp the features.

For the Tactical Outdoorsman

For any outdoorsman, a rugged and reliable timepiece is the most important. This is why the Suunto Traverse Alpha is our top pick for this list of the best outdoorsman watch. The Traverse Alpha is housed in a composite case with a fixed knurled steel bezel. Plus, the watch is protected by sapphire crystal lens, making it less susceptible to scratches. It comes with a water-resistant nylon wrist strap which is great even it starts raining outside.

However, the Traverse Alpha isn’t just a rugged smartwatch, what makes it a top pick are the features. The watch comes with GPS and GLONASS technology and it works beautifully based on my experience. You can also set built-in shortcuts for saving your current position as a point of interest or POI. To get the most out of the Traverse Alpha’s features, make sure to download the Movescount app.

Finally, the woodland design of the watch just screams tactical and I’m sure many outdoorsmen will appreciate that. Wrapping up, it’s certainly one of the best outdoor watches that you can get.

2. Casio Pro Trek PRW2500T Tough Solar

Best Outdoorsman Watch

Choosing an outdoor watch from Casio is a daunting task. After all, Casio is the leading brand when it comes to tough watches. For the hardcore outdoors person, the Casio Pro Trek PRW2500T Tough Solar is our top recommendation.

Traditional But Never Outdated

The Pro Trek PRW2500T is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a traditional outdoorsman watch. It’s a digital timepiece with a traditional Casio design. The watch is aimed directly at the outdoor adventure types where it truly shines.

The dedicated compass, altimeter, and barometer are here and the buttons are large enough for easy operation, even if you’re wearing gloves. The screen is large enough to display two levels of data like the current time, visual compass, and numerical heading. The inclusion of tide data and 200m water resistance makes the Pro Trek PRW2500T a solid all-around unit.

Furthermore, this watch is a tough solar mode which means that the battery is solar-rechargeable. Therefore, you’ll never have to worry about running out of juice while outdoors. With a single full charge, you can get 5 months of use without charging with light. Now, that’s a real heavy-duty watch.

Wrapping up, I compare the Pro Trek line to the Jeep Wrangler. The watch retains its basic design over the years but its build quality and feature sets continue to improve.

3. Garmin Instinct

Best Outdoorsman Watch

I’ve been debating if I’m going to list the Garmin Fenix or the Garmin Instinct for this list. Ultimately, I went with the Garmin Instinct because it’s a solid outdoor watch but it’s a lot less expensive compared to the Fenix.

Heavy-Duty Piece That Offers Great Value

The Garmin Instinct has a wide range of activity-tracking features but it truly shines with its navigation features. If you value navigation more than anything else, the Garmin Instinct supports GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. Connecting to any of these satellites is quick and easy, even when you’re in the middle of nowhere.

The Instinct features low-resolution, non-color display which is hardly a big deal unless you’re looking to use TOPO maps. In addition, you can upload your routes to the watch which you can use as a reference while outdoors. Or perhaps, you can go old-school by using the Instinct’s built-in compass.

In terms of durability, the watch is constructed to U.S. Military standard 810G so it has excellent thermal, shock and water resistance. For sure, it’s durable enough to take a few knocks. Despite its durability, the Instinct feels light while on the wrist, thanks to its excellent materials and construction. It’s a heavy-duty watch but it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a brick.

Overall, the Instinct isn’t exactly a full-featured timepiece but it’s a very reliable GPS watch. Also, the price makes it a great buy for hardcore outdoor enthusiasts.

4. Timex T49612 Expedition Shock

Best Outdoorsman Watch

Now, here’s our top budget pick. If you want a super durable timepiece that won’t break the bank, the Timex T49612 Expedition Shock is certainly worth checking out.

Designed for Outdoor Torture

When a watch is marketed as “Designed For Outdoor Torture Tests”, you have to take notice. Sounds like it’s an exaggeration but the T49612 Expedition Shock is indeed one tough customer. The durable resin case is putting in the work and the construction makes it seem like it’s built like a tank. Honestly, the T49612 Expedition Shock can give the G-Shocks a run for their money in terms of durability. The water-resistance rating of 200 meters is also a nice bonus.

Unfortunately, the watch is rather light on features, so this is not the piece for you if you’re looking for advanced features. It does come with a digital compass that works well. The watch can also be illuminated with the Indiglo light up system which works great in low-light conditions.

However, the best feature of this watch is actually the price. This is one of the best hiking watches under $100 due to its excellent durability. If I have to find a drawback, the strap will eventually give out especially with regular use.

5. Luminox 3051.BO Navy Seal Colormark

Best Outdoorsman Watch

I am a big fan of Luminox, especially of the 3050 series. The Luminox 3051.BO Navy Seal Colormark is endorsed by the Navy Seal, so it’s an easy recommendation from me.

Navy Seal Toughness

The rough and tough nature of the great outdoors doesn’t have a fighting chance against the 3051.BO Navy Seal. Its durability is attributed to the Polycarbonate carbon reinforced case, making it a true tough timepiece but still manages to be lightweight. The face is protected by the durable mineral crystal, providing it with the much-needed scratch resistance.

Despite its bulky and rugged exterior, the 3051.BO Navy Seal is a beautiful masculine watch. The BO designation refers to the blackout color of the watch and the black matte finish adds a tactical look to it. With the blackout colorway, it’s understandable if you think that legibility will be a concern. However, you don’t have to worry about legibility because this watch boasts top-notch luminosity. Whether in nighttime or underwater, you should have no problem reading the watch.

Best Outdoorsman Watch

Overall, if this watch is good enough for the Navy Seals, it should be good enough even for the most hardcore outdoorsman.

6. Citizen BU2055-16E Military Quartz

Best Outdoorsman Watch

Citizen is a Japanese brand that’s known for making high-quality and reliable watches. The Citizen BU2055-16E Military Quartz is no exception.

Timeless Tactical

The Citizen BU2055-16E Military Quartz watch is yet another tactical watch that many outdoor enthusiasts will love. For starters, the tactical look and canvas strap really make the look of this military-style timepiece. Just a word of warning, the watch is quite sizable at 43mm so it might look big on smaller wrists.

From the construction to the materials used, the BU2055-16E just feels high-quality and robust. The black ion-plated stainless steel case does a great job of adding durability to the piece. The dark green Cordura strap is another durability feature but since it’s canvas, it’s not ideal for wet conditions. However, you can easily swap out the default strap with either a 19mm or 20mm replacement strap.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that it’s an Eco-Drive model which means that it can be charged with solar power. It’s a great watch for those who are looking for something simple but tough.

Brave the Wild Outdoors With These Watches

This concludes our list of the best outdoorsman watch. I’m hoping that I’ve made it easier for you to choose your next outdoor timekeeping companion.

In case you are looking for some more advance tech in your outdoor adventures, you may want to have a look to the best outdoor smartwatches.

Best Solar Dive Watch: Solar-Powered Timepieces

Review of the Best Solar Dive Watch

Based on our extensive research on timepieces, Seiko Prospex Analog SSC017 stands out as our top pick for the best solar dive watch. Some of the key features of this watch include a date display, unidirectional bezel, stainless steel construction, three chronograph subdials, and more.

Best Solar Dive Watch

Since solar-powered watches use cell panels in the watch display that converts any light to energy, they offer more convenience and peace of mind. It could be from the sun or indoor fluorescents. The light charges the watch’s battery or capacitor.

Compared to mechanical watches, solar dive watches will run unbothered for several months. Also, they do not need costly maintenances every few years like battery-powered watches.

There are a large number of solar watches on the market dominated by models from Casio, Citizen, and Seiko. However, only a few are dive supported. The main expectation from proper diving watches is their compliance with ISO 6425 standards. Some others are water-resistant to at least 200-meters and suitability for scuba diving.

Seiko Prospex Analog SSC017 Solar Dive Watch

Best Solar Dive Watch

Seiko Prospex SSC017 is our top pick of the best solar dive watch. As mentioned above, the Seiko watch brand is one of the well-known manufacturers of solar-powered timepieces in today’s market. It is a USA product that is approved by international standards. With 660 feet of water resistance, it is the right watch for all water activities and conditions, including snow, fog, rain, and others. An appealing aspect of this watch is the entire buildup and design. The fact that this Seiko model is suitable for many occasions is also remarkable.

Benefits / Drawbacks – Seiko Prospex Analog SSC017

There are so many reasons to choose Seiko Prospex as the best solar dive watch. Here are some of them.

Quality Build-up

As expected from a proper dive watch, the Seiko Prospex SSC017 has a solar panel built into the dial. It uses a quartz movement that is powered by an operational rechargeable battery that is capable of storing power for over six months. The stainless steel makes it even more durable than other rubber or leather solar dive watches. Seiko uses Hurdles in makes their dial window. The material is resistant to shattering, so expect this watch to remain intact even after minor impacts.

Good-Looking timepiece

Even if you want a proper solar dive watch, it is also important to consider the exterior of your watch. Another reason for selecting the Seiko Prospex as our top choice is the good-looking appearance. The design of the watch is stunning and fashionable to suit several occasions, including cooperate and casual wear. It is a bit heavy, but at the same time very comfortable to wear. Also, the 43mm diameter case makes it appropriate for almost every wrist.

Impressive features

From the first glance at this Seiko brand, you notice the analog display on a black dial with three hands. To make it easy to read the time at night or dark conditions, the hands and hour markers are luminous and visible at all times. The Rotating bezel is a distinguishing feature on the Seiko Prospex SSC017 that you may not find on other solar watches on the market. Another key feature is the date display and the three small subdials on the main dial for precision.

Citizen Promaster (BN-0150-28E) Solar Dive Watch

Best Solar Dive Watch

The Citizen is an identical option to the Seiko model above, only with a different buildup and features. The Citizen Promaster BN-0150-28E is a better choice for down to earth individuals interested in a solar dive watch rather than watch enthusiasts. It is water-resistant to 200 meters.

Benefits / Drawbacks – Citizen Promaster (BN-0150-28E)

The Citizen Promaster is a better option for you if you like to keep things simple and down to earth. Let’s see some features

Eco-drive Solar Technology

Just like the Seiko, this Citizen is solar-powered, it draws energy from light hitting its face. But there is an upgrade here, in this Promaster, since it uses Eco-Drive solar technology. The technology requires no rechargeable battery to function; instead, it relies on a capacitor entirely. Solar energy is the main power of this watch and not a backup to the battery as it is in Seiko.

Reliable Utilitarian Piece

Citizen Promaster BN-0150-28E uses solar-power saving. It keeps time precise, so you don’t have to wind the watch at any time. The piece is viable and impressively practical. It is a proposed option for people who are used to the quartz movement but prefer it on advanced development.

Effective but Boring Look

As useful as the Citizen Promaster may seem, the main drawback is the dull look. It has the classic 42 mm wide dive watch design. With features like a one-way rotational bezel, mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating and polyurethane straps. The appearance is not as attractive as other solar dive watches and may not pass for a fashion watch. If you don’t mind the looks of the watch and your focus is mainly towards the quality, then feel free to go for this one.

Casio G-Shock Frogman GWF-D1000B–1 Solar Dive Watch

Best Solar Dive Watch

Casio G-Shock Frogman GWF-D1000B-1 is another outstanding solar dive watch in a line. It combines both the G-Shock’s legendary toughness and the Casio’s Tough Solar technology of the Casio brand. The features of the watch help to keep track of time and other necessary measures and parameters while you spend time in the water. Some of them include the tide plus moon graph, surface time measurement function, Multi-Band 6 timekeeping, and more.

Benefits / Drawbacks – Casio G-Shock Frogman GWF-D1000B-1

The GWF-D1000B-1 watch is perfect for anyone excited about water sports or other activities around water. See some benefits below.

Tough build

The appearance of the Casio G-Shock GWF-D1000B-1 watch is the signature G-Shock resin body and bands that offer protection from scratches and shocks. It is ISO compliant, and the water-resistance rate is to a depth of 660 feet. It means you can go swimming and diving with this sturdy and durable watch on your wrist.

Impressive Features

On top of the face above the digital time readout, there is a tide and moon information. There are also several timers in the watch to serve quite a few purposes, including timing the dives. An exciting quality on the timepiece is the GPS and radio technology, which allows the watch set itself to the correct time when you change the time zones. Others include the water depth meter, thermometer, and compass.

Perfect for every occasion

This watch is no slouch. Even while the G-Shock Frogman shows top performances underwater, it is ideal for every occasion. The sapphire crystal and a carbon fiber insert band give the watch a sporty appearance that would go well on any outfit.

Seiko Prospex SNE441 Solar Dive Watch

Best Solar Dive Watch

For the fourth-best solar dive watch, it’s only right we go for another Seiko Prospex. The Seiko Prospex SNE441 is another classic dive watch. Regardless of the rugged appearance, it is capable of offering a fantastic wearing experience. It is also excellent for all outdoor and water activities.

Benefits / Drawbacks – Seiko Prospex SNE441

If you are now to solar dive watches and you intend to try one out, you should be purchasing this Seiko Prospex. It gives an excellent introduction to this category of watches.

Comfortable Strap

The 43.5mm-wide Seiko Prospex SNE441 is neither too large nor too small. It is right about the perfect size to look good on anyone’s wrist. You may also decide to wear it as a fashion or sports watch. The Silicone band gives comfort to the wrist and allows you to wear it all day without having to remove it.

Awesome lumination

As a dive watch, the lumination is a great part of its design. In the dead of the night or dark lighting conditions, you wouldn’t have to strain your eyes to read the time. After a full charge, the power of the watch can go up to 10 months.

Impressive Qualities

Asides from the 200 meters water resistance rating, there are some mentionable features attributed to this solar diver. They include a one-way rotating bezel, scratch-resistant crystal, case back, screw-down, silicone band, date display, and glowing hands and markers.

General Criteria in Selecting the Best Solar Dive Watch.

For selecting the best solar dive watch, there are three main factors to focus on, including the power-save, the design, and the durability of the watch.

Power-Save

Not all solar watches on the market can save vitality. But we suggest you choose one with the Power-save ability, so you never have to stress over the absence of energy from your watch.

Design

The design of the watch all comes down to your interest. There are decent models that sports aficionados will prefer, while some can be more discrete or exquisite. Just go for a solar dive watch that fits your type of fashion and lifestyle.

Durability

The best solar dive watches should be capable of standing the trial of time regardless of the activities you put them through. We suggest you get your watch from a trusted brand. For solar dive watches, Citizen, Seiko, and Casio are brands we recommend.

Bottom Line

Best Solar Atomic Watch

1. Casio G-Shock GW9400 Rangeman

Best Solar Atomic Watch

For many of our regular readers, the Casio G-Shock GW9400 Rangeman is no stranger. After all, it has been featured as one of the best G-Shock models especially for heavy-duty professions like EMT workers. As you can see, it’s also a Solar Atomic watch.

A Masterpiece of an Atomic Watch

The G-Shock GW9400 Rangeman is a fan-favorite as far as Casio’s Master of G Series goes and it’s not hard to see why.

The watch comes with the famous Triple Sensor feature which includes a digital compass, altimeter, barometer, and, thermometer. Combined with the watch’s excellent toughness, you have yourself a timepiece that will help guide yourself in places you’ve never gone before.

In terms of form factor, the GW9400 Rangeman features an irregular shape, even among other G-Shock models. However, it does feel great while wearing and sits nicely on the wrist. I’ve had this watch for the longest time and it only has very minor scuffs with no noticeable scratches. With such a performance, it’s not a surprise if this piece lasts for a good decade.

As far as battery life goes, I can only recall a few times that it needed to be recharged. Even then, I only needed to leave the watch for several hours and it will be charged. Lastly, the atomic timekeeping updates every night so it’s never an issue for me.

2. Casio Pro Trek PRW2500T

Best Solar Atomic Watch

A fair warning to those who don’t like Casio watches: this list will feature a lot of them. With that said, the Casio Pro Trek PRW2500T is always a great choice for outdoor enthusiasts and active people. Plus, it’s an amazing solar atomic watch.

Feature-Rich Atomic Solar Watch

People who like their watches that come with everything under the sun will appreciate the Pro Trek PRW2500T. It’s simply packed with features that it can get overwhelming for some. This Pro Trek version is the improved iteration of the plastic PRW2500. The model featured is made from stainless steel and titanium.

The Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping will ensure that your watch is very precise. It even comes with an auto-calendar feature that’s pre-programmed until 2099. It’s safe to say that you don’t have to worry about the time and date with the Pro Trek PRW2500T.

The Pro Trek PRW2500T is geared towards outdoor use so it also has the famed Triple Sensor feature. From what we have tested, the compass, altimeter, and barometer work at a functional level. The watch display allows you to get multiple information at a glance. However, it can get a little too busy for people.

Overall, the Casio Pro Trek PRW2500T is the best solar atomic watch in the Pro Trek series.

3. Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Chrono

Best Solar Atomic Watch

On this list of the best solar atomic watch, the Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Chrono might just be the best-looking. However, it’s way more than just a classy, handsome watch.

High-Specced Atomic Timekeeping

Citizen’s Eco-Drive series features some of the best solar-powered watches money can buy. Among the impressive collection of watches, the Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Chrono stands out by having a great set of features and incredible design.

One of the first things you’ll notice is the lightweight profile of the watch. Thanks to the titanium case and band, the Titanium Perpetual Chrono feels just right despite being a fairly large watch. Besides, the watch is eye-catching but it’s not overdone or flashy. The dial looks cluttered at first but you’ll quickly appreciate just how well-done the layout is.

For some people, the design of the AT4010-50E Titanium is easily the main selling point. However, if you care about superior battery life, the Eco-Drive technology should drive the point home. With Eco-Drive, the watch is powered by light and not necessarily solar energy. Of course, this is an atomic watch which means that it employs radio-controlled function in multiple timezones for max accuracy.

Ultimately, the Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Perpetual Chrono is not a cheap atomic solar watch but it’s highly recommended for fans of atomic timekeeping.

4. Casio G-Shock GW2310-1 Tough Solar

Best Solar Atomic Watch

If you are looking for the best solar atomic watch that won’t make a dent on your budget, the Casio G-Shock GW2310-1 Tough Solar is an easy recommendation.

Best Value Solar Atomic Timepiece

I’ve bought the G-Shock GW2310-1 Tough Solar because I needed an atomic watch for daily use. This watch piece fits the bill due to its low price and that it’s a G-Shock. With that said, the GW2310-1 is impressive right out of the box.

This sub-$100 watch looks the way as you might expect. Its analog display isn’t exactly modern or timeless but it’s more than a functional watch with enough features to offer. However, many people should find the sporty design appealing.

Of course, it’s an atomic watch and I’m happy to report that it delivers in accuracy. The GW2310-1 is radio controlled and syncs daily with Colorado’s Cesium-133 atomic clock. The auto calibration works great, even after many years of use.

In terms of toughness, the GW2310-1 gets the job done. The watch is impact and shock resistant, and even comes with a 200M water resistance rating. Also, the battery life is excellent and can last up to 10 months with a full charge.

Ultimately, the GW2310-1 is a solid atomic solar watch that comes at a good price. Don’t sleep on this one!

5. Seiko Radio Sync Solar Coutura

Best Solar Atomic Watch

Seiko is known for its tough and reliable watches plus the craftsmanship is hard to deny. The Seiko Radio Sync Solar Coutura is a fine member of Seiko’s lineup and it’s one of the best solar atomic watches that you can get.

Good-Looking Yet Heavy Watch

For starters, the Seiko Radio Sync Solar Coutura is a beast of a watch – it’s quite large and a bit on the heavy side. Despite the heavy weight, the Coutura feels weighty but not overly so. Also, despite the weighty profile, the watch feels comfortable to wear which is a nice surprise.

One of the best things about this watch is the striking blue dial. For starters, it’s a very eye-catching dial especially with its unique design and layout. Reading the time is easy and the sub-dials are very legible as well. My only complaint about the dial is that the date window is too small.

Of course, this is an atomic watch so accuracy is never an issue. With Radio Sync, the watch will automatically sync every night so you don’t have to set it anymore. The only time that you’ll need to set this watch is when you travel to a different time zone.

In conclusion, the Seiko Radio Sync Solar Coutura is the best solar atomic watch you can get from the infamous Seiko brand.

6. Citizen Eco-Drive JY8035-04E Navihawk

Best Solar Atomic Watch

The Citizen Eco-Drive JY8035-04E Navihawk is an atomic solar watch for someone who wants it all. As you can see from the dial, it’s a watch that doesn’t leave anything to the imagination.

A Solid Atomic Watch With a Crazy Dial

The JY8035-04E Navihawk is not for minimalist fans. It’s an unapologetic sports watch that aims to give you all the information you need. In addition, the display is analog but there are digital readouts as well. It’s not the easiest watch to use and there’s a learning curve.

The Atomic Timekeeping feature means that you don’t have to set the watch ever again. I’ve been using this watch for years and the atomic feature works like a charm.

This watch is simply oozing with quality and craftsmanship. However, the band leaves a lot to be desired. In retrospect, I just wish that it’s more durable since mine broke after only months of use.

To sum it up, the JY8035-04E Navihawk is the spy watch that you’ve always wanted. In conclusion, the watch has some flaws but it’s still a solid atomic solar watch.

Atomic Timekeeping Done Right

That wraps up our list of the best solar atomic watch. Hopefully, we have helped you find an atomic watch that best fits your needs.

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive: Which Solar Watch is Superior?

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive Matchup

Seiko and Citizen are two of the biggest brands from Asia, and it’s safe to say, even the world. With the rise of battery-powered quartz watches, both brands have been leading the market and these two companies have a lot in common.

Many customers are finding themselves choosing between a Seiko or Citizen watch – and that’s a good problem to have. Both manufacturers have excellent track records.

For this comparison review, we’ll try to answer the question, which is better? Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive.

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive: At a Glance

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive Review

This review is essentially a head-to-head between two major watch lines. Here’s a quick specs comparison of Seiko Solar and Citizen Eco-Drive.

Seiko Solar Citizen Eco Drive

Water-Resistance Yes, 330 feet Yes, 660 feet
Power Reserve About 10 years Second battery lasts up to 20 years
GPS Watch Yes Yes

Seiko vs Citizen: Brand Comparison

As you all know, both brands originated from Japan and have been enjoying a good deal of popularity in the market.

Now, according to our research of the market, Citizen has the upper hand when it comes to reach and sales volume. Citizen has a wider market presence and that can be said with their sales as well.

On the other hand, Seiko is also a popular brand but less so when compared to Citizen. In my experience, Seiko watches are not as widely available as Citizen, even when you’re shopping from major watch retailers. Therefore, many customers have to buy straight from Seiko or from a specialty store.

In comparison, Citizen watches are virtually everywhere. You can find plenty of Citizen models on Amazon and most major retailers. Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology is one of the main reasons for the brand’s popularity. Eco-Drive watches are known for their reliability which resonates well with customers.

As far as the solar watch community goes, Citizen seems to be the more popular brand between the two.

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive: Solar Technology

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive Solar Technology

Obviously, the appeal of both watch lines lies with their solar-powered technology. Seiko uses the Solar designation while Citizen uses the Eco-Drive technology.

It’s worth noting that Seiko manufactures more mechanical watches than Citizen. Under Seiko’s Quartz collection is where you’ll find the brand’s solar-powered watches with the technology that’s simply called Seiko Solar. On the flip side, Citizen specializes more in quartz timepieces where you can find the Eco-Drive collection. The Eco-Drive technology was well-received and in fact, it has won the Gold prize at the “Eco Mark Award 2014”.

As we look closer, we’ve discovered that the solar technologies from the two brands are fairly similar. We’re trying to find a distinguishing feature between Solar and Eco-Drive to no avail. Some folks even believe that they’re essentially the same solar movements with some subtle differences.

So which solar technology is better? Well, it’s really hard to say.

Seiko uses its Solar technology to quite a handful of models. From the Seiko SNE481 Dress Watch to the Seiko RECRAFT Series, there’s a good selection of Seiko Solar models to choose from. However, it’s not a technology that Seiko uses across its collections.

On the other hand, Citizen outfits a wide range of its watches in Eco-Drive solar technology, even the bestselling ones. Thus, there’s a good chance that you’ll get an Eco-Drive watch if you invest in a Citizen piece. Also, Citizen has the advantage since they’ve been working with solar technology longer than Seiko.

In contrast, Seiko seems to be more committed to developing mechanical watches and their own Kinetic technology. If you want a mechanical/self-winding watch, Seiko is your best bet.

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive: Style and Design

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive Solar Technology_1

This one is a bit trickier to compare.

However, if you’re going to observe the offerings from both brands, you’ll see that Seiko leans more towards the tried and true classic designs. A good example of this is the Seiko SNE102 Stainless Steel Solar Watch that has all the makings of a classic leather watch. However, Seiko Solar watches have a variety to them as well. Take for instance, the Seiko Solar Chronograph Silvertone Watch which is a nice-looking chronograph.

On the flip side, Citizen seems to push the limits more when it comes to design. One of my favorite Citizen watches is the Citizen BM8180-03E which is slick-looking field watch. However, Citizen Eco-Drive watches have models with bolder designs such as the Citizen AW1148-09E Drive.

Both brands offer stylish and great-looking watches. If you want something more of a classic look, Seiko is the way to go. However, for more design selections, Citizen can offer you more.

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive: Construction, Durability and Water Resistance

Again, this is a category that’s difficult to argue concerning both brands. Both brands offer reliable and robust timepieces at a reasonable price. For the most part, both collections use the same type of case which is stainless steel. The cases are either brushed or polished.

On the back side, both watches are fitted with stainless steel as well. Stainless steel is durable and significantly helps with water resistance. Both Citizen and Seiko watches also use the screw-down lock style which improves water resistance even more.

Although Seiko Solar watches are water-resistant, they have some glaring limitations. For the most part, Solar watches have a water resistance rating of 100 meters. This makes Seiko Solar watches to be technically dive-ready. In comparison, some Eco-Drive models can go down to 200 meters underwater or 660 feet.

It’s worth noting that Seiko has a different line of solar watches for divers. Therefore, although some of their watches have water resistance, not all of them can be used for diving. As for the case of Citizen, they have Eco-Drive models that span both dive and outdoor watches.

Best Seiko Solar Watches

1. Seiko SNE331 Solar Watch

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive

As mentioned, this is one of my favorite Seiko watches ever. The Seiko SNE331 Solar Dress Watch is a military-inspired timepiece but still works wonderfully as an all-around watch.

The large indices and the stencil-like numerals really perk up the dial. The thick luminous hands go very well with the handsome black dial. It’s a 43-mm stainless steel watch, so there’s a bit of heft to it. The hardlex crystal does a great job of protecting the dial.

Overall, it’s a stylish and rugged solar-powered watch that will last you a long while.

2. Seiko SNE042 Stainless Steel Solar Watch

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive

The Seiko SNE042 Stainless Steel Solar Watch is a beautiful dress watch with the signature Seiko reliability.

This is one of the more popular Seiko Solar models and for good reason. The two-tone design adds a good deal of class without looking tacky. The combination of gold hands and indices against the shimmering charcoal dial is so well done.

Of course, the best thing about this dress watch is that it’s solar-powered. With a straight 35 hours charge, it’s supposedly going to give you 10 months of battery life – that’s quite amazing. For a dress watch, it’s also tough and robust enough for daily wear.

The Seiko SNE042 is holding up well and a great introduction to Seiko Solar watches.

3. Seiko SSC667 RECRAFT Series

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive

If you want to check out a chronograph Solar from this brand, the Seiko SSC667 RECRAFT Series is an excellent candidate.

One of the first things you’ll notice about the SSC667 is its vintage design which is a throwback to the 70s. Aside from the 70s-inspired design, I applaud Seiko for putting a good effort into creating the dial. There are various layers to the dial which creates depth. The applied markers also add the much-needed texture to the face.

The SSC667 is a utilitarian watch where every design element is deliberate. The NATO strap adds another layer o personality to the timepiece. It’s definitely one of the better Seiko chronographs that you can get.

Best Citizen Eco-Drive Watches

1. Citizen AW1150-07E Eco-DRV AR 2.0

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive

The Citizen AW1150-07E Eco-DRV AR 2.0 is a big, black, and bold timepiece with a modern appeal. Citizen doesn’t shy away from edgier designs and this one is my favorite.

It’s a 44mm stainless steel watch but it never feels too large, even on smaller wrists. The main selling point of the AW1150-07E is its looks. The dial just looks amazing and can be worn pretty much everywhere. I’ve received many compliments wearing it.

Overall, the AW1150-07E is one of the finer Eco-Drive watches available.

2. Citizen BM8180-03E

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive

The Citizen BM8180-03E is a trooper of a watch. It feels very rugged but still lightweight. From the military-inspired design to the quality construction, the Citizen BM8180-03E succeeds in the utilitarian sense.

The dial looks simple and straight to the point – just the way I like it. The lume is fairly decent but I wish it was better since the watch is designed for outdoor applications. The strap is a bit stiff at first but it was eventually broken in and became a lot more flexible.

Ultimately, the BM8180-03E is a fan favorite and it’s easy to see why.

3. Citizen BN0151-09L Promaster Professional Diver

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty diver with a great price, the Citizen BN0151-09L Promaster Professional Diver is an easy recommendation.

The BN0151-09L is an updated version of the classic Citizen dive watch. This dive watch has a water resistance rating of WR200/20Bar/666ft, so it’s something that scuba divers can actually use. Despite being a tool watch, the BN0151-09L Promaster is light and comfortable.

Overall, the BN0151-09L is a rock-solid dive watch and offers amazing value.

Seiko Solar vs Citizen Eco Drive: Final Thoughts

As you can see, this Seiko vs Citizen matchup is a tricky one. This is mainly because both brands are very similar.

If you are looking for a solar-powered watch with a more classic look, Seiko Solar should have something for you. On the other hand, Citizen Eco-Drive watches are more adventurous when it comes to design. When it comes to solar power technology, Citizen edges out Seiko because the former has more watches that have the feature. Plus, Citizen has been working with solar technology far longer than Seiko.

Either way, it’s hard to go wrong with their brand.

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches: Which Dive Watch Brand Should You Get?

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches Review

In the 1970s, Japanese watchmakers have taken the world of the watch industry by storm. This was largely in part due to the Quartz Revolution and the world of watches was changed forever. Japan is famous for making some of the best bang-for-the-buck timepieces in the industry.

This is especially true when it comes to dive watches.

If you are in the market for a new dive watch that won’t break the bank, you’ll likely end up choosing watches from Citizen and Seiko. Both are Japanese brands and from the initial look, there’s plenty of similarities between the two dive watch brands.

Today, I have the unenviable job of comparing Citizen vs Seiko dive watches. Which dive watch brand is better? Let’s find out!

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches: Head-to-Head Comparison

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches Review

Style and Design

When you look at both Citizen and Seiko dive watches, you’ll probably think that both watches look fairly similar. However, once you really observe the divers from both brands, you’ll see the distinct differences.

In general, Seiko divers tend to look more like the classic dive watches. For example, the Seiko Men’s SKX009K2 features the same design aesthetic as the classic Submariner. Many of their dive watches feature a vintage style and design but never looking outdated.

Also, the popular Prospex collection boasts the “land explorer” look with high legibility, sleek smooth design, and congested motion. It’s worth noting that the Prospex collection has many variants that are not limited to dive watches. Seiko also has the Seiko Grand collection for those who are looking for a more high-end watch.

On the other hand, Citizen also offers watches that have that unmistakable vintage design. However, unlike Seiko, Citizen seems to push the envelop more when it comes to its design philosophy. You can find many Citizen pieces that look more creative, experimental even.

When it comes to actual style and design, it’s hard to go wrong with either Citizen or Seiko. Both dive watch brands have models that look stylish and offer strong designs. At the end of the day, it will come down to your personal preference.

Construction and Durability

For construction and durability, Citizen vs Seiko dive watches can definitely go toe-to-toe with each other. For the crystals, Citizen tends to use mineral crystals while Seiko utilizes its patented Hardlex crystals. Both crystals are very impact resistant but I’ve found that both crystals are easily scratched.

For the materials, both dive watch brands don’t use precious metals (gold, platinum, etc.) for making the watches. Both brands use stainless steel for most of their dive watches which is not a problem at all. If you want a piece that uses precious metals, you might want to look into the Seiko Grand line.

Based on our tests, the bracelet of Citizen dive watches is better when compared to Seiko. This is hardly an extensive test but Citizen bracelets were more comfortable and durable than Seiko bracelets.

I’ve been doing some reading online and it seems that there’s an argument that Citizen has the upper hand in terms of production quality. However, there’s no definitive proof of this but I do know that both watches have a history of producing excellent quality watches for less.

Water Resistance

Of course, you can’t talk about dive watches without mentioning their water resistance rating. Which dive watch brand is the better diving tool? On average, I think that the two brands are fairly comparable with regards to water resistance rating. Both brands have models that can handle the standard 200 meters of depth. These dive watches are good for the average diver.

However, if you’re somewhat of a professional diver, Citizen has the leg up versus Seiko. Citizen has the Promaster 1000M Professional Diver which has a rating of 1000M/100Bar and perfect for serious scuba diving. Seiko also has a 1000 meter dive watch in the form of SBDX014G Marinemaster but it’s far more expensive when compared to Citizen’s offering.

Overall, both brands cater to a wide range of diving needs.

Features and Technology

When it comes to the best dive watches, I always check the illuminated hands. After all, you’re hundreds of meters down the ocean, so you want a watch that you can actually read – good illumination helps with that. In that regard, I think Seiko has the advantage over Citizen with the former’s LumiBrite hands/markers. It just works better, even in bright daylight.

In the matters of diving features, Seiko divers come with Kinetic and Spring Drive Technologies. The original Kinetic technology has been a point of success for Seiko but it does have some practical shortcomings. For instance, you need to wear the watch or oscillate in your hands to charge it. On the other hand, the Spring Drive movement melds the benefits of both automatic and quartz movements. It’s a mechanical movement with the accuracy of quartz.

On the flip side, Citizen uses Japanese quartz movement for most of its divers. There’s a couple of Citizen divers that also come with Atomic timekeeping which further enhances accuracy. However, the biggest advantage of Citizen dive watches is Eco-Drive technology. This technology powers watches from any natural/artificial light source and converts light to energy. That’s right, you won’t ever have to replace batteries with Eco-Drive timepieces.

For timekeeping and general features, Seiko has the upper hand when it comes to overall accuracy while Citizen comes out on top if you prefer a solar-powered watch.

Pricing

As mentioned, both Citizen and Seiko are known for affordable, high-quality dive watches. As far as pricing goes, Citizen and Seiko have very similar price ranges and both cater to a wide range of budgets. You can get a reliable dive watch with a $200-$300 price tag from both brands.

The main difference between the two is with the highest-end offering. The Seiko Prospex SBDX014G Marinemaster is available for $3,000+ while the Citizen Promaster 1000M Professional Diver comes with a $2,000+ price tag.

Best Citizen Dive Watches

1. Citizen BN0085 Eco-Drive

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches

The Citizen BN0085 Eco-Drive is one of the best value dive watches that you can get from Citizen. It’s made from stainless steel with a textured dial and unidirectional gear-shaped bezel. The watch comes with a date window and luminous hands/indices.

There’s nothing too fancy here but it’s an Eco-Drive diver which means you don’t have to replace the batteries now and then. The BN0085 is a moderately-sized watch that keeps accurate time and offers some pretty great features.

2. Citizen BN0150-28E Eco-Drive Promaster

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches

For starters, the Citizen BN0150-28E Eco-Drive Promaster is yet another bang-for-your-buck dive watch. It has a very simple design but has the inner workings of an excellent diver. It is water resistant to 660 feet, powered with Japanese quartz movement, and protected by mineral crystal casing. The BN0150-28E is a watch that’s useful in the ocean and the office.

This Promaster watch is a solid option if you’re looking for a dive watch that won’t cost you an arm and leg. It’s also a great gift for the upcoming holidays.

3. Citizen BN2029-01E Eco-Drive Promaster Aqualand

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches

The Citizen BN2029-01E Eco-Drive Promaster Aqualand is highly recommended for those who are looking for a rugged dive tool. The BN2029-01E Eco-Drive Promaster Aqualand comes several great diving features such as the Rapid Descent Alarm, Auto-Start Dive mode, Max Depth Memory, and Depth Display.

Just by looking at it, you know that it’s a heavy-duty dive watch. Plus, it looks great as well although it might be a little too big for some people. The Aqualand is a great diving companion for both amateur and professional divers.

Best Seiko Dive Watches

1. Seiko Prospex SRPA21K1 Automatic

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches

For a good dive watch under $500, the Seiko Prospex SRPA21K1 Automatic comes highly recommended. It really is a lot of watch for the price. You have the classic Pepsi colorway that just looks even better in person. With a depth rating of 200 meters (660 feet), it’s a solid diver for general use.

Seiko did a great job with the polishing on the case and bezel, giving the watch a more sophisticated look. The SRPA21K1 is a dive watch that you won’t mind wearing regularly.

2. Seiko Prospex SNE435P1 PADI Solar

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches

The Seiko Prospex line is officially sanctioned by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. Therefore, you know that you have a legitimate timepiece on your wrist. The Seiko Prospex SNE435P1 PADI Solar is a diving watch with serious pedigree and great price.

The SNE435P1 has a water resistance rating of 200 meters, making it a good fit for general diving purposes. This is a solar-powered watch and features a 10-month power reserve once it’s fully charged. It’s a bit on the bigger and thicker side but it’s hard to complain especially at this price point.

3. Seiko Prospex SRPC93 ‘Save The Ocean’ Samurai

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches

Personally, the Seiko Prospex SRPC93 ‘Save The Ocean’ Samurai is one of the shining entries in Seiko’s Prospex line. In terms of comfort and wearability, it’s easily one of my favorite Seiko watches ever. The bracelet is solid and high-quality, and the reduced bulk made way for a better wearing experience.

It’s a good thing that the Prospex SRPC93 is also very stylish with its bright blue dial and knockabout body. The dial is just hypnotizing to look at, and it just begs to be worn in the water. Despite being a special edition Prospex, the SRPC93 can be yours for less than $500.

Citizen vs Seiko Dive Watches: Which One Should You Choose?

Finally, we’ve come to the end of the Citizen vs Seiko dive watches comparison.

So which one should you get?

Well, it depends on what you want from a dive watch. If you care more about watches with a classic vintage look, Seiko’s offerings should be a good starting point. Otherwise, Citizen has more watches with bolder designs.

As for the timekeeping and diving performance, both Seiko and Citizen are almost neck-to-neck. Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology is a big deal since you don’t have to replace the batteries. Seiko dive watches have interesting movement technology but the older ones have practical drawbacks.

Lastly, pricing is almost the same between the two brands unless you go for the higher-end models. In that regard, Citizen edges out Seiko when it comes to high-end model pricing.

At the end of the day, it’s hard to go wrong with either dive watch brands. Both have a history of making high-performance dive watches at budget-friendly prices.

Best Watch for EMT

1. Casio G-Shock GW6900-1 Tough Solar

Best Watch for EMT

The Casio G-Shock has always been my go-to for watches that can deliver in terms of durability, legibility, and functionality. The Casio G-Shock GW6900-1 Tough Solar is exactly that and more.

Won’t Let You Down in the Field

The Casio G-Shock GW6900-1 is about as basic as you can get as far as tough watches go. However, it does offer a number of other functionalities that make it a worthy pickup.

Obviously, the main draw of this watch is its toughness. It features a shock-resistant construction which makes it highly resilient against vibration and impact. Just by feeling the watch alone, you can see that it can withstand the rough nature of an EMT’s job.

On top of the excellent durability and toughness, the watch also features 20-bar water resistance. From the shower to emergency water rescues, your watch will not give in just because it came in contact with water.

The GW6900-1 is also solar-powered which means that as long as you are wearing it, replacing the battery is a non-issue. The watch can still work even after 5-23 months of not receiving any light.

Best of all, the GW6900-1 is an affordable timepiece that’s currently on-sale for less than $100.

2. Garmin Tactix Charlie

Best Watch for EMT

The Garmin Tactix Charlie is somewhat of a premium pick. It’s not the most affordable in this best watch for EMT list but it’s an easy recommendation for those who are looking for a watch with a ton of features.

One Tool Watch to Rule Them All

The Garmin Tactix Charlie is described as a premium GPS watch – you can expect no less than Garmin.

Is it tough enough to handle an EMT’s job?

Well, the case of the Tactix Charlie is reinforced polymer with a titanium back plate. Plus, the bezel is DLC coated titanium while the watch is protected by sapphire crystal. As you can see, the Tactix Charlie is not playing around as far as durability goes.

After all, it’s a watch that’s designed for tactical purposes.

The main selling point of the watch is the navigation features. The watch comes with GPS/GLONASS along with pre-loaded topo maps. Many Garmin GPS staple features are here such as the ability to set project waypoints. You can also easily save your location in a hurry. The navigation features should come in handy if you are responding to a rural or unfamiliar location.

And one thing, it’s also an excellent activity tracker and fitness tool.

The Garmin Tactix Charlie is by no means a cheap watch but it offers a mind-blowing number of features that many EMTs should appreciate.

3. Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept

Best Watch for EMT

If you want the best watch for EMT with a thematic twist, the Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept is worth looking into. Don’t get me wrong, it’s more than just a watch with eye-popping red color.

Thematic Twist to a Tough Watch

One look at the Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept and your eyes will be drawn to the beautiful red color. When mine arrived, I was so pleased that it looks even better in person. This is a colorful alternative for EMTs who are tired of the same old black watches.

Since this is a G-Shock model, there’s no surprise (or rather a shock) here when it comes to inherent toughness. Casio’s construction is always on-point. The watch feels appropriately weighty and it just provides a solid feel overall. You just know that it’s a watch that won’t fail you in the field.

The G-Shock Rescue Concept comes with a decent list of features such as moon/tide graphs, auto EL backlight, low temp LCD, flash alert, world time, and daily alarm. It’s no Tactix Charlie or the Suunto Traverse Alpha but it’s hard to go wrong with the price.

In conclusion, the Casio G-Shock Rescue Concept is an excellent rugged watch with a color scheme that fits the EMT theme.

4. Citizen BM8180-03E Eco-Drive

Best Watch for EMT

Citizen’s Eco-Drive collection has always impressed me. They’re some of the most robust and well-respected watches in the industry. The Citizen BM8180-03E Eco-Drive is no exception.

Quality EMT Watch for a Great Price

The Citizen BM8180-03E Eco-Drive is one of the best-selling watches on Amazon, and it’s not surprising at all.

The BM8180-03E is a military-inspired watch and a stylish one at that. While it’s indeed a rugged military watch, it features a nice and clean design. The army green color scheme of the strap contrasts rather well with the stainless steel case and black dial.

Speaking of the dial, I love the BM8180-03E’s black dial. It’s just so clean and immediately readable. The red second hand adds an interesting contrast against the black dial face. Plus, you can easily use the seconds from timing a patient’s pulse and the like. When things get dark, the hands and numerals are lumed and it’s is pretty good.

Being an Eco-Drive model, the BM8180-03E is solar powered and it’s one of the better solar-powered watches available. It can be charged both in sunlight and artificial light sources like lamps. In case you run out of solar power, the watch also comes with a reserve battery which is a nice bonus.

All in all, this is a great-looking watch with sufficient ruggedness and functionality to offer for a great price.

5. Speidel Original Scrub Watch

Best Watch for EMT

The Speidel Original Scrub Watch is a watch specifically designed for doctors, nurses, surgeons, and of course EMT workers. This watch is simple, durable, and easy to read – sometimes, that’s all you ever need from a watch.

A Medical Professional’s Watch

I’ll be frank: the Speidel Original Scrub Watch is simply a basic analog watch. Don’t expect it to sync with your smartphone or count your steps. The idea here is to keep the basic timekeeping needs of medical professionals.

With that said, the dial features large Arabic numbers and a bright red second hand, emphasizing “at a glance” readability. True enough, the Speidel Scrub Watch boasts excellent readability regardless of the lighting conditions. The bright red second hand comes in handy when counting a patients pulse or breathing.

The watch is available in many different colored wristbands which you can match with your scrub uniforms, hence the name. The silicone band takes a bit of getting used to. However, it does provide a good bit of comfort and doesn’t make my wrist itch which is a plus. The silicone band is very easy to clean as well.

Overall, the Speidel Scrub Watch gets the job done and does it well. It’s a basic watch every step of the way and it doesn’t pretend otherwise. Luckily, the watch is available for a good price.

6. Timex Expedition Scout 40

Best Watch for EMT

Timex is a brand known for its budget-friendly and durable watches. The Expedition collection is more of a field watch and it’s perfect for an EMT’s everyday wear. The Timex Expedition Scout 40 is one the best entries in that particular collection.

Affordable and Durable Choice for EMTs

Like the Citizen Eco-Drive model earlier, the Timex Expedition Scout 40 is easy to read with clear white Arabic numbers on a black dial. The numerals and hands just pop out and you can easily tell the time at first glance. The numerals are bold and large which is always a plus for readability.

The Expedition Scout 40 also features the Indiglo illumination technology which I am a big fan of. When it comes to timekeeping in the dark, you won’t have a problem with this watch. The Japanese Quartz movement is always reliable and offers enough practicality for the timekeeping needs of emergency responders.

The Timex Expedition Scout 40 is a watch that EMT workers can buy with confidence. Plus, it’s hard to go wrong with the sub-$50 price tag.

Best Affordable Chronograph Watch

1. Citizen AT0200-05E Eco-Drive Chronograph

Best Affordable Chronograph Watch

When it comes to the best affordable chronograph watch, it’s hard to ignore the value that the Citizen AT0200-05E Eco-Drive Chronograph offers. It’s a military-inspired chronograph that delivers in terms of functionality and ruggedness.

Highly Functional and Reasonably-Priced

The Citizen AT0200-05E Eco-Drive Chronograph has been with me for quite a while and it continues to provide value.

This rugged stainless steel chronograph is very well-suited to everyday wear. As you might expect, the watch is quartz-powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive solar charging technology. This means that you don’t have to worry about charging the watch. Simply leaving the watch by your windowsill gets the job done of charging, although indoor light works as well.

The pictures of the watch don’t do it justice. It looks better in person which is great if you’re planning to use this watch daily. Furthermore, the strap is quite robust and looks great for casual wear.

The AT0200-05E Eco-Drive Chronograph features three sub-dials that measure the hours, minutes, and seconds. The red seconds hand adds a good deal of depth to the dial. All in all, the dial itself is very legible despite the lack of significant texture.

Overall, the AT0200-05E Eco-Drive Chronograph is a durable, no-nonsense watch at a steal price.

2. Bulova Special Edition Lunar Pilot Chronograph

As far as lunar-themed chronographs go, the Omega Speedmaster is widely considered to be the definitive timepiece. However, the Bulova Special Edition Lunar Pilot Chronograph is also worth mentioning alongside the Speedmaster.

A Lunar Chronograph with a History

For a bit of history, the Bulova Lunar Pilot was actually worn by astronaut Dave Scott during his time in the moon, replacing his NASA-issued Speedmaster. The Bulova Special Edition Lunar Pilot Chronograph is the recreation of that lunar classic.

Right off the bat, you know that you have something special on your wrist.

First, this is a stunning chronograph. The case features a wonderful satin finish that gives the watch an elegantly sporty look. The design is a noteworthy departure from the usual Bulova timepiece – this is certainly more of a tool watch than a dressy unit. The build quality is top-notch, especially for a sub-$500 watch.

At 45 mm, the Bulova Special Edition Lunar Pilot Chronograph is not a small watch. For most folks, the large size is a boon as it looks more fashionable. Fortunately, the large size doesn’t come with discomfort and weightiness.

The watch is powered by a high-performance UHF quartz movement. It vibrates 8 times faster than your usual conventional quartz timepiece. There’s not much that can be said here except that the accuracy is on-point.

Ultimately, the Lunar Pilot might be the other “moon watch” but it’s certainly a no-slouch affordable chronograph.

3. Invicta 0070 Pro Diver Collection Chronograph

Best Affordable Chronograph Watch

If you are in the market for a budget dive chronograph, the Invicta 0070 Pro Diver Collection Chronograph is worth looking into. It’s unbelievable that it’s a sub-$200 dive watch and did many things right that it belongs on this list of the best affordable chronograph watch.

Sizable Dive Watch That Delivers

For starters, the Invicta 0070 Pro Diver is a huge and imposing watch. For that reason, the watch works well as a fashion piece. The stainless steel case is brushed and well-polished, and frankly, it looks great for a budget timepiece. Plus, the rugged construction provides the much-needed durability which is important for a dive watch.

The dial comes in marine blue which is always a nice aesthetic when it comes to dive watches. At first look, the dial may look a bit too crowded but I quickly came to realize the mindfulness of the layout. The three sub-dials are all highly readable, although two of them are partially obscured by the date window.

The watch also features skeleton hands which I am not too crazy about. The hands obscure the dial elements more than they need to. As for the movement, it is powered by a Chinese quartz movement which might seem like a drawback but it’s really not. As far as accuracy goes, I have no problem with the Invicta 0070 Pro Diver.

Overall, the Invicta 0070 Pro Diver is an ideal dive chronograph that’s budget-friendly without too many compromises.

4. Seiko SNN241 Stainless Steel

Best Affordable Chronograph Watch

You can’t make a list of the best affordable chronograph watch without listing a piece from Seiko. The Seiko SNN241 Stainless Steel is a luxury dress watch without the exorbitant price.

Solid Dress Watch for the Price

First, let’s get out the drawback out of the way. The Seiko SNN241 Stainless Steel chronograph has a case diameter of 42 mm with a band width of 11 mm. Just by looking at the specs, it’s easy to tell that the watch will look bigger than you expect. It becomes even more apparent once you have it on your wrist.

For a dress watch, it is indeed large so keep that in mind.

Fortunately, the rest of the watch is fantastic. For instance, the construction of the Seiko SNN241 is top-notch. The stainless steel case, hardlex crystal, and contrast-stitched leather band all add up to solid and reliable timepiece.

In terms of timekeeping, there’s nothing revolutionary about it but everything is done accurately and consistently. The Japanese quartz movement, as you might expect, is highly accurate. Both the chronograph dials are working consistently as well. The leather band feels high-quality and comfortable, so no complaints about that.

Seiko did a good job of providing both class and amazing value with the Seiko SNN241 chronograph.

5. Timex Fly-Back Chronograph

Best Affordable Chronograph Watch

Timex has plenty of great affordable chronograph watches from its lineup. Ultimately, I went with the Timex Fly-Back Chronograph due to its unique aesthetic and solid performance.

An Interesting Watch With Unique Complications

It’s hard to look at the Timex Fly-Back Chronograph and not be intrigued. One of the first things you’ll notice about the watch is its unique complication – the Fly-Back Chronograph Movement.

Instead of having two circular sub-dials, the watch features two half-circle displays that measure the minutes and hours. The Fly-Back mechanic is called as such because once the hands reach the end of the scale, they fly back to their starting position for another cycle.

Regardless of its functionality, I’m sold for its interesting complication alone.

With the unique complications, the watch also looks very interesting and aviation-inspired. The dial looks very complicated but it’s not a big deal once you get used to it. It looks elegant and sporty at the same time. The leather strap is a bit thick but it’s well-stitched and comfortable.

Wrapping up, the Timex Fly-Back Chronograph is greater than the sum of its parts. With its current sale price, this is one of the best Timex chronographs that you can get.

6. Casio MTP4500D-1AV Slide Rule Bezel Aviator

Best Affordable Chronograph Watch

Casio isn’t known for their chronographs but that doesn’t mean they don’t have one. The Casio MTP4500D-1AV Slide Rule Bezel Aviator is a well-made chronograph with an amazingly low-price.

Walks and Talks Like a $200 Watch

The Casio MTP4500D-1AV has made it into this list of the best affordable chronograph watch because it’s a steal. It looks and feels like a $200 watch but it’s a bargain timepiece through and through.

The quality of the construction is surprisingly solid and consistent. I am not normally a fan of mirror finishes but I don’t mind it here. Fortunately, it’s very easy to swap out the stainless steel bracelet with a different one – I replaced mine with a NATO strap.

The dial is also very interesting, mainly due to the design of the sub-dials. Personally, I am not too thrilled with the minutes sub-dial which displays a large 60 at the top portion and a large 30 at the bottom. This leads to confusion when trying to tell the minutes when the hands are near these positions.

Overall, the Casio MTP4500D-1AV is a great beater chronograph with a crazy value proposition.

Top Chronograph Watches for Less

This ends our list for the best affordable chronograph watches. If you think chronographs are expensive, think again – you just might not be looking hard enough!

Michael Kors Darci Women’s Three-Hand Wrist Watch

Best Women's Watches Under 500

The popular luxury brand, Micheal Kors, makes an appearance on our list with its Darci Women’s Three Hand wristwatch. Combining elegance and durability all in one piece, this makes the watch an excellent investment for women. It also offers a price that can meet a $200 budget.

Affordable Elegant Timepiece

Like most amazing watches, the MK3298 has a slim profile while sporting lightweight features. With this in mind, you can wear the timepiece to work or at night without worrying about undue pressure on your wrist.

The MK3298 displays minimalism as it has a simple silver dial with raised gold-tone stick markers. A crystal set bezel surrounds the round watch face, thereby giving it a classic elegant look.

Sporting a 26mm gold-tone stainless steel case with mineral crystal, it can withstand the stress of regular use. Also, the watch has a gold-tone stainless steel bracelet that ends in a robust gold fold-over clasp.

You can use the Darci Women’s watch in the shower or at the pool as it is water-resistant up to 165ft. But it cannot be used for diving or snorkeling trips.

Opinions and Drawbacks

If you are looking for one of the best women’s watches under 500, the MK3298 should be on your shopping list. This timepiece will make a great accessory with any formal or casual outfit.

However, it has a battery that runs out within a short period. Also, the crystals on the bezel fall off in the long run, leaving behind a copper-toned hole that makes the watch less attractive.

Citizen Women’s Eco-Drive Watch with Date, EW1544-53A

Best Women's Watches Under 500

The Citizen Women’s two-tone Eco-Drive watch looks simple at first glance. This watch is durable and highly suitable for women in need of a timepiece that can handle tough conditions. It also has an impressive feature that keeps it running without a battery. What‘s even better is that it is one of the best women’s watches for aquatic activities like short dive and snorkeling.

Simple Durable Timepiece

Most Citizen Watches with great features come at a high price above $500, but in this case, it is a lot different. No need to break the bank because, with a budget below $300, you can get this sturdy women’s watch. It has a stainless steel case of 26mm diameter that can fit any wrist size.

This simple design watch features a white dial with easy to read black hour markers. Its dial lies under scratch-resistant mineral crystals that protect it from dust. The calendar window at the 3.0 clock hand keeps you informed on the current date.

Its gold-tone bezel gives the watch an added beauty to complement your wear. It has a two-tone stainless steel bracelet that makes the watch looks beautiful on the wrist. Also, with its fold-over clasp, the Citizen Eco-drive is comfortable enough for women with a small or large wrist.

Like other Eco-drive watches, the Japanese quartz movement is fueled by any light to keep it running every day. This means there is no battery replacement required, thereby saving you more money in the long run.

Opinion & Drawbacks

This is a durable timepiece for women in need watches under $500.  The design is not too complex like most ladies’ watch, which makes it very easy to read and use. You can take your bath or a swim with this watch on your wrist without worries.

However, if you’re concern about dates, then this watch is not for you. The calendar window is too small to read, and you have to adjust the date settings more often for it to work correctly. Overall, it offers a simple style and high functionality for everyday use.

Seiko Women’s SUT068 Watch

Best Women's Watches Under 500

Traditionally, Seiko has launched timepieces that impress consumers worldwide. One of such products is the Seiko Women’s SUTO68 watch that looks good on the feminine wrist.

Solar Powered Watch with Impressive Features

Like most watches on our list, the SUTO68 has a petite look that promises less weight than other models. Because of these features, this timepiece is comfortable to wear.

Although SEIKO offers a three-year warranty on the watch, the SUTO68 has a build that can outlive years of wear and tear. For instance, its Hardlex dial window is exceptionally resistant to knocks and scratches while its two-tone steel case back can withstand rust.

Seiko displays elegance on this watch by giving it a mother of Pearl dial surrounded by a diamond-accented bezel. Also, the watch has gold-toned hands and hour markers.

If you purchase this dress watch, there is no need to get extra batteries. This is because the watch has a rechargeable battery that runs on solar power. You can top up the cell with either natural or artificial light.

Opinion and Drawbacks

It’s no surprise that the SUTO68 poses as one of the best women’s watches under 500. After all, its elegant dial looks dazzling while the solar-powered battery prevents you from spending extra cash on extra batteries.

But the SUTO68 has some minor downsides. For instance, its diamonds are hardly noticeable while the bracelet is weaker than most Seiko models on the market.

Ladies’ Swarovski Crystal Crystalline Oval Rose Watch

Best Women's Watches Under 500
