Today we will be reviewing and highlighting the best watches for paramedics. A paramedic’s job is EXTREMELY important; so having a watch that can accurately keep time and function properly is a must!
The job of an EMT, or paramedic, involves a lot of moving around, being on duty for long hours, and subject to water or other types of fluids. So while accuracy is a very important feature, durability is the top quality of paramedic watches as well!
You will soon find out that the Timex Expedition Gallatin is the BEST watch for paramedics! Why is that? Because of the durability, price, and easy to read dial. It also is a plus that owners rave about the watches tough build. It is difficult to find a negative review for this watch!
Best Watches for Paramedics | Why Best? | Paramedic Rating |
Timex Men’s Expedition | VERY durable, accurate, affordable and has an easy to read dial | ★★★★★ |
G-Shock GA100-1A1 | Extreme durability and easy to use stopwatch features | ★★★★★ |
Seiko SKX007 | Another VERY durable watch, but a bit more expensive. Highlights include an automatic movement | ★★★★★ |
EMT Paramedic Aquaforce | Literally designed for paramedics. Easy to read. | ★★★★★ |
Fanmis Men’s Analog Display | Durable and VERY AFFORDABLE, mimic of G-Shock at a lower price point. | ★★★★★ |
Timex Expedition Gallatin
For the first watch of the day, we are reviewing the Timex Expedition Gallatin. Timex is a watchmaker with a long history. They are known for making durable sports and military watches, which happen to be a great choice for paramedics.
The Timex Expedition Gallatin is about as good as it gets for a paramedic watch. It is a durable watch with a fast wrap velcro band, and a lightweight but strong, resin case. It is also a waterproof timepiece ( up to 50 meters) so it can handle water damage. The Gallatin is also easy to read. You can see the black hand tick around the large 44 mm case and the dial even lights up with a push of a button.
An All-Around Watch
This watch is great for ANY wear: The Timex is definitely a top watch for any EMT or paramedic. You get the best of all of the other watches but in a sleek, dark design. Think of this watch as you GO TO. It fits in with any attire, so it can be worn long after a shift as well.
The Timex Expedition Gallatin is the best watch for EMT.
Top Features
- Durability: I am going to give the durability rating on this piece a 4.5/5. It is a watch that can take anything you put in its path. So the job of a paramedic got NOTHING on the Gallatin.
- It doesn’t cost much: It may not be the cheapest watch in the review today, but I would say it is the best VALUED watch.
- Multiple Designs: You can find this watch in a variety of colorways and designs. There are different band materials, colors etc..
- Light up Dial: Working in the dark? No problem. The Timex has a bright, luminescent dial, activated easily with a push of a button
G-Shock GA100-1A1
Here we have the beautiful G-Shock GA100. A perfect watch for the job of any medical professional.
G-Shocks are known for their rough, durable designs. In fact, they are actually designed for military wear. So if a military medic can be found wearing one of these bad boys, I am sure it is a perfect choice for paramedics who are not at war. It’s one of the best watches for paramedics.
What else makes the G-Shock a great choice is the unique features and attributes of this piece. It is anti-magnetic, has a full auto-programmed calendar and a fully functional stopwatch. Similar to the Timex, you can also activate a light on this watch. This comes in handy when working in the dark!
Great Functionality
Why the G-Shock is one of my top choices for paramedics is definitely because of all the add-ons and the functionality of the piece. You do not need to worry about medical equipment interfering with your watches movement on this piece. You also have a stopwatch on you at all times, that is easy to use.
Highlights
- Anti-Magnetic: The G-Shock has built-in, anti-magnetic qualities that protect against the electricity given off from some medical devices.
- Shock Resistant: Any fall or slam is no match for the G-Shock GA100. It is a true BEAST!
- Nice size: With a 37mm case, this watch is sure to fit nicely on a wrist of any size.
Seiko SKX007
Simply look up Seiko SKX007 on a Google search and you will be amazed at all the reviews that come up from happy EMT and EMS workers. The Seiko is a durable watch that is built with an AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT ( my favorite movement). The reason this watch is not on the top like the G-Shock and Timex is that it is slightly more expensive than both. DO NOT let that turn you off though. Many happy customers are glad that they chose a Seiko and it is sure to last long and stay functional for a long time!
Automatic Movement
If you have read any of my reviews before, you know I LOVE automatic movements on watches. I mean, to me this is what defines a TIMEPIECE. The Seiko SKX may not have the best automatic movement in the world, but it still has one. Owners are extremely happy with the movement of this piece. Expect just a few seconds off per month!
Highlights
- Quality Japanese automatic movement
- Water resistance up to 200 Meters
- 42 mm Stainless steel case
- Beautiful dive watch design
EMT Aquaforce
If you imagined what an EMT watch would look like, without ever seeing one, this is probably what you would be thinking of (at least it’s what I saw in my wild imagination).
EMT AquaforceThere is nothing fancy about this watch, nothing at all. But if a luxury design is what is important to you, rather than functionality, you may be in the wrong profession (can I get a different paramedic please)? But seriously, you will be the definition of a true EMT with this watch. It comes in an all-black design, with a light feel and a flexible band.
Made for an EMT
Not much can be found on the Aquaforce. But there is no doubt at all that it was made for an EMT/paramedic. It is towards the bottom of today’s review because it is not as durable as the other watches on the list for paramedics. Some owners have claimed that their bands have broke. Other than that, it is a functional watch that is simplistic and will do its job.
Highlights
- Design: EMT inspired design in the dial
- Size: Large 47mm case
- Simplistic: Simple, all black band with a black case
Fanmis S-Shock
Our last watch of the day looks VERY VERY similar to a G-Shock. Funny, it is called S-Shock… (I wonder why).
Fanmis S-ShockThe Fanmis was added to today’s review because it is the most AFFORDABLE piece on this list. This is a watch that is durable and reliable, without breaking the bank. You can expect almost everything you get with a G-Shock but a lot cheaper! This is a LARGE watch, 51mm case diameter. It has a silicone, rubber band, and an ABC plastic case; with that, you can understand why we choose it as one of the best watches for paramedics.
Affordability
Although the Fanmis is not as regarded as a G-Shock. That does not mean this watch is not good. It has almost EVERY feature that a G-Shock has, just downgraded a bit. The killer reason why this is a must by piece though lies in the price. Look at getting about four of these watches for the price of one G-Shock!
Top Features
- PRICE: The most affordable watch in today’s review
- Technology: Anti-Magnetic Anti-Vibration ( not as strong as G-Shock, but reliable) I would not test it out with an AED… (CLEAR)!
- Durability: Plastic and rubber materials that can take on scratches, bumps, and falls and up to 50 M water resistance
- Timekeeping; Full calendar and stopwatch with a quartz movement
Curtain Call/ The Final Verdict
I hope everyone found this review helpful today in purchasing a watch. My thought process today while reviewing was to find five watches that are highly reviewed by paramedics and are durable pieces that can handle the workload of a paramedic/EMT. At the end of the day, you can not go wrong with any of these watches, but in particular the Timex Gallatin, or the G-Shock GA100. It is hard to pick a solid winner, so I will leave that decision up to YOU!
When purchasing a watch for your career as a paramedic, keep in mind that looks are not everything. I tried to pick the best-looking watches, that have rigid, strong, durable features and are still not hideous. In no way are any of these watches a Rolex or an Omega; but in contrast, they are strong watches that can take on the important role of assisting a paramedic in their day-to-day work. Rest assured these are the best watches for paramedics.
Remember as always, when purchasing a watch make sure you buy from a reliable source like Amazon! If you keep that in mind, you can ensure that you are buying an authentic watch and typically with warranties. Happy watch shopping my friends!
